Session 2 5/6D

Another great session, did a read aloud and focus on 'text to self connections'. We used the first three pages of Tomorrow When the War Began, by John Marsden. We had some intriguing discussions about the text and used the Book Clubs talk prompts to initiate discussions.

Good work to one and all!! Looking forward to next week.

Wow 5/6 F Book Club going great!

What a session I had! Well done to the girls in the first 5/6F book club. Thank you for putting yourselves out there and holding the 'fishbowl' session where your class mates could watch in and see first hand how the book club operates.

To all the students in 5/6F you made the session work because you all sat and listened respectfully. Cant wait for next week! :)

5/6 Girls Book Club Book

First Blog

Welcome to my first blog of 'School Days'. I have set up this blog to share with the learning community at Keilor Views Primary school.

It has been a great start to the week and I look forward to getting into some classrooms during literacy sessions. Last week saw the introduction of 'Writer's Notebooks' in some of the year 5/6 classes, students were very excited about using their writers notebooks and personalising them. I can't wait to read some of the entries.

Book Clubs were also launched last week in some 5/6 Grades and I am an a official member of the 5/6F Book club reading the book 'tessa' ( I used a lower case 't' because that's how it is on the cover) we are up to chapter 4 and are meeting session 5 today for another Book Club discussion.

THE BOOK WEEK PARADE IS ON THURSDAY and I can't wait to see everyone dressed up parading and celebrating Classic Books.
